(TheBlanc, 11:59 Show).
This sculpture has two parts: 1. the fish tank 2. pedestal. The artist collected her hair for three months, which is connected to the 10 bobbers. Each hair strand represents a year from the artist’s life between 2014-2024, one year equaling to one inch.
On the pedestal is a timeline that the hair can be compared on. From 2014-2024, the artist has picked important details and events per year that the user can learn about. The artist hopes to be in a conversation with her father through this project, letting her father know of the various events that the artist had to go through as she navigated her collegiate years in NYC. Some highlighted events are specifially events that the artist struggles to bring up to her father, as conversations about sexual uncomfortableness is not talked about in her family.
A close up image of the timeline can be seen in the gallery above.
