AI art continues to enhance the unequal gender dynamic in today's culture, further isolating a very specific image of what a 'woman' should look like. Similarly, AI art often puts a strict definition of certain adjectives such as 'beautiful' and 'pretty' by associating very specific physical traits to those terms in its generative art.

Below are screenshots from Lexica.Art. Lexica.Art is a digital gallery for arts created with stable diffusion, a form of AI generated art. Users showcase their work with the prompt that they used to create the images.

These show the varieties of recurring keywords associated with AI generated images of women, such as the word “pregnant.” Additionally, when simple color related words like “red,” “blue,” or “black” was searched, images of woman, often very body-focused, with sensual poses showed up.  Additionally, Asian features and anime styles were also seen as desired characteristics of AI art of women.

These screenshots were printed in black and white and collaged onto the canvas to make the background of the drawing.
